This App Privacy Policy describes how Builders Carpentry Source ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Builders CS mobile application (the "App") on iOS or Android, and related services at www.builderscs.net.
The App is a business tool for authorized technicians, supervisors, and staff. It is not a consumer social app and is not intended for the general public.
Summary: We collect account details, work activity, photos and videos of job documentation, device and notification data, and location (including in the background when needed for routing). We do not sell personal information. We share data with your employer or organization and with service providers that operate the App.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to users of the Builders CS mobile App. Access is provided by your employer or administrator. By using the App, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Account and profile information
- Name, email address, phone number, and login credentials.
- Role, organization, and account settings provided by your administrator.
- Password reset and authentication data.
Location data
The App uses precise location (GPS) to support technician routing, job-site navigation, and field operations.
- While using the App: location is used to show maps, routes, and nearby job sites.
- In the background: location may be collected when the App is not in the foreground so routing, schedule, and job-site features can continue to work.
Background location is used only for these work features. It is not used for advertising or sale of data. You can turn location access off in your device settings; some routing features will not work without it.
Photos, videos, and audio
- Photos and videos you capture with the camera or select from your photo library to document tasks, materials, deliveries, and work progress.
- Microphone audio when you record job-site videos that include sound.
Media is uploaded to our servers for project records. The App does not access your camera, photos, or microphone except when you use those features.
Device and notification information
- Device type, operating system version, and App version.
- Push notification tokens (for example, Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send work alerts.
- Authentication tokens stored securely on the device so you can stay signed in.
Work and usage activity
- Project assignments, task status, material records, schedules, and timestamps.
- Route planning, check-ins, and related field activity.
- In-App notification history and read status.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect contacts, SMS, call logs, or financial account numbers through the App.
- We do not use the App to show third-party advertising.
- We do not sell personal information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and related business services.
- Authenticate users and keep accounts secure.
- Assign, schedule, and manage construction and carpentry projects.
- Track technician routes, job progress, and project documentation.
- Send push notifications about assignments, schedule changes, and important updates.
- Improve App performance, reliability, and security.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not use App data for marketing to the general public or for targeted advertising.
4. App Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions:
- Camera — photograph and video completed tasks and materials.
- Photo library / media — select and upload existing images and videos, and save work photos when needed.
- Microphone — record audio with job-site videos.
- Location (precise, including background) — maps, routes, and field operations.
- Notifications — work-related alerts.
You can change or revoke these permissions in your device settings. Some features will not work if required permissions are disabled.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Your employer or organization that authorized your App access, including supervisors and administrators who manage projects and staff.
- Service providers that help us operate the App, such as:
- Cloud hosting for the App and uploaded files.
- Firebase (Google) for push notifications.
- Google Maps / Google Play services for maps, location, and routing.
- Legal and safety — law enforcement or other parties when required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or property.
Third-party providers process data only as needed to provide their services and are subject to their own privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the App, fulfill business and legal requirements, and resolve disputes. Project photos, location records, and account data may be stored according to your organization's policies and applicable law.
Login tokens stored on your device remain until you sign out or they expire. You can remove locally stored App data by signing out and uninstalling the App.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and secure on-device storage for authentication tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your role, organization, and applicable law, you may:
- Update certain account details in the App or through your administrator.
- Manage camera, photo, microphone, location, and notification permissions in device settings.
- Sign out to remove the stored login token from the device.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting your administrator or us using the information below.
Because accounts are issued by your organization, some requests (including account deletion) may need to go through your administrator.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for authorized business users and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. International Users
The App and related services are operated for Builders Carpentry Source business operations. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where we or our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this App Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
